WHY I'M PROBABLY GOING TO DISAPPEAR

Hello!
Today I just want to explain why my blog might get a little bit neglected over the next few weeks, and why you might not see me around on the internet so much for a little while.

Basically, I have quite a few exams in the latter half of May which are kind of important and will probably effect the rest of my life, and I am not prepared for them at all. I need to revise (a lot), and then I need to actually do the exams, and then I need to have a few days to chill out and watch a lot of TV. You guys probably know what it's like.

It's also my birthday on May 10th (the day before my French exam. WHY?), so I'm probably going to spending some time with my family and friends/eating cake.

Because of all this, my reading and blogging are going to get pushed to the side a little bit. That doesn't mean I won't be posting at all- I already have quite a few posts planned and some blog tours I'm taking part in in May- but it does mean I won't be posting as regularly as I normally would.

I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY BOOKS FOR REVIEW for a little while, partly because I'm busy so and partly because I have so much to read already. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid netgalley...

I hope everyone can understand, please don't abandon me!

DEWEYS 24 HOUR READATHON WRAP-UP

Deweys 24 hour readathon is OVER!

I read (almost) two novels and one really short poetry collection, which gave me a total of 633 pages.

I didn't end up reading as much as I wanted to over the 24 hours, BUT I did go shopping, and I went to the cinema (Age of Ultron was epic. Totally worth it) and I had  6+ hours of sleep, so I think I did quite well considering how much time I actually had to read.

Without further ado, let's get into the books I managed to read...

DEWEYS 24 HOUR READATHON: TBR

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow I'll be taking part in DEWEYS 24 HOUR READATHON for the first time, and I'm pretty nervous about it.

If you don't know, Deweys 24 hour readathon is a readathon where participants try and read as much as they possibly can in just 24 hours. You can find out everything about it (and sign up really last minute!) on the WEBSITE!

For me, in the UK, the readathon starts at 1pm on Saturday 25th April and finishes on 1pm on Sunday 26th April.

Today I want to share the books I want to try and get to during the readathon, and my plans regarding how I'm going to keep everyone updated/how I'm going to survive. Let's do this!

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: BOOKS THAT FEATURE TRAVELLING

Hello!
It's Wednesday once again, and this weeks topic is TOP 5 BOOKS THAT FEATURE TRAVELLING. The books can be any genre and include any different types of travelling, just as long as the characters go somewhere.

This topic was kind of hard for me because I had SO MANY books to choose from. I tried to include all types of travelling and not just road trip books (even though road trip books are some of my favorites)

Let's get started...

MIA REACTS: JACE CASTING AND ADSOM2

Hi guys!
It's been a very exciting couple of days for me.
Yesterday (after 5 freaking hours of tweeting and waiting and refreshing my browser. The suspense was crazy), we found out who will be playing Jace in Shadowhunters (which is the TV adaptation of one of my favorite series; The mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare)
THEN, earlier today, the cover, title and synopsis of the sequel to V.E Schwab's A darker shade of magic (which is one of my favorite books of this year) were revealed.

Now I want to share my thoughts and feels about both of these things, because I just couldn't keep it inside.

VINTAGE BOOKS HAUL

Hi guys!
Sorry I've been absent for a few days. My only excuse was that I was watching Emma Approved (it was totally worth it).

Yesterday, whilst clearing out the attic, my dad found a box of old books that had belonged to members of our family in past generations and were published as far back as the late 1800's. Of course he brought these books straight to his book-loving daughter and told me I could pick out whichever ones I wanted.

Unfortunately, a lot of them were too old/broken/damaged by the damp in our attic for me to take custody of, but I have got some of the ones in better conditions. They all smell a little bit of damp, but I can get past that.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: MOST FRUSTRATING CHARACTERS

Hi guys!

It's not Wednesday, and this list has seven characters instead of five, but can we just ignore that? Yeah? Cool!

This weeks topic for Top 5 Wednesday Top 7 Thursday is MOST FRUSTRATING CHARACTERS!

Please note that in no way am I hating on these characters. Some of them are pretty cool, I just wanted to shake them the entire time I was reading about them.

Confession: I had a long list of eighteen characters that I had to cut down to make this post. In the end I got it down to seven.  Either I'm really easily annoyed, or there are just a lot of really freaking frustrating characters.

MINI REVIEWS: RECENT READS

There are all books that I don't have enough thoughts about to write a full review, but I do want to say a bit more than I would in a wrap up.

BOOKS I NEED TO RE-READ

Hi guys!
I'm not normally a huge re-reader, but I realized recently that there are a few books that I REALLY want to revisit.
Whether it's because there's a movie being released or a sequel coming out, or because I just love them so much I want to read them again, here are some of the books I'm planning to re-read in the near future.

(A FEW OF) MY FAVORITE DEDICATIONS

The dedication is a very tiny part of a book, so tiny that a lot of people just skip over them, but sometimes they can be a great part of it.
Because I'm a nerd who reads every part of the book, from the publishing details to the acknowledgements, I've always loved seeing who the author chooses to dedicate their word to.

From the sentimental to the hilarious, here are just a few of my favorite dedications in books...

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: BOOKS I MEANT TO READ YESTERDAY

You know those books you've been wanting to read forever, but for some reason (or, sometimes, no reason) you just keep putting it off...and putting it off...and putting it off...and putting it off?

I have a lot of those. I always want to read books, but then I get distracted by other books and new releases and I just never get round to them.

This weeks topic for top five Wednesday fit me perfectly!  Here are five of the books I wanted to read before, but haven't got around to yet...

WRITING UPDATE: I FINISHED THE FIRST DRAFT

Hi guys!
If you've been following me on twitter, you'll probably know that for the past couple of months I've been working on the first draft of my first novel.

Last night I finished the first draft! Yay!

Today I just want to share some of my thoughts on my first draft, and some of my plans on what I'm going to do next.

ANOTHER BOOK HAUL

Hi guys!
I know my last book haul was less than two weeks ago (you can see that one HERE), but I've already acquired nine books since then.

After I've posted this, I'm putting myself on a book buying/requesting ban so I can catch up on some books I have for review. Hopefully you won't see another haul for a while!

WRITING MUSIC RECOMMENDATIONS!

Hi guys!
I've been writing a lot recently (in fact I'm only a few thousand words away from finishing the first draft of my novel! Look out for a writing update soon.), and I know now that camp nanowrimo is in full swing a lot of other people will be too.

I can't write without music on, and I'm always looking for new music to listen to whilst I'm writing. Personally I'm okay with having words in the background, but a lot of people can't focus so most of these are movie scores without any lyrics.

Most of these recommendations work best for kind of action packed urban fantasy stories, because that's what I'm writing!

Let's get started...

BLOGGER TIPS: SPREADSHEETS ARE YOUR FRIENDS

Hi guys!
This is up kind of late because I'm not at school so my schedule has been completely thrown up. Sorry.

Today I want to talk about one of my biggest loves in life, besides books and Dylan O'Brien: SPREADSHEETS!

This might be the nerdiest thing I've ever posted on the internet. Oh well.

MARCH 2015 WRAP UP

Hi everyone,

I've written full reviews for 3 of these books which I link when I'm talking about them if you want to hear more about what I thought.
