TOP 15 BOOKS OF 2015

Hi everyone,

The year is nearly over! Whilst this fills me with panic, it does mean that it's time for the most exciting post of the year- my top 15 books of 2015!

I've read exactly 100 books this year (so far), 20 more than my original goal, so it was really hard to pick just 15 of them to mention in this post. There were just so many great books this year! These are the best of the best, the books that truly blew me away and stayed with me ever since I read them. Because I love these books so much, I might not be entirely coherent when I'm talking about them. Sorry about that!

NOTE: If I read a whole series this year and wanted to include it on the list, my favourite book has been chosen to represent the whole series. Otherwise half the list would just be Harry Potter.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: SERIES I WANT TO START NEXT YEAR

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY GINGERREADSLAINEY. YOU CAN FIND MORE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP.

Hi everyone,

I know this sounds crazy, but 2015 is nearly over! Where did all the time go? I'm already starting to think about what I want to read next year, so it's totally fitting that this weeks top 5 Wednesday topic is TOP 5 SERIES I WANT TO READ IN 2016.

I actually did this topic last year (when I'd just started blogging!) and...well, I've only read one of the series. Oops. Even so, I tried to think of a whole new list so I'm not repeating myself.

*This list only contains series where at least one book has already been released. Series that begin publication in 2016 don't count.*

'TIS THE SEASON BOOK TAG

Hi everyone,

There's only THREE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS, and that's counting today! To celebrate, I'm going to be doing some Christmas-themed book TAGs leading up to the big day.

Today I'm doing the 'tis the season book tag, which was created last year by RichardDenney on youtube. Nobody tagged me, but it's fun and festive so I'm doing it anyway.

WRITERS WEEKENDS: WRITING DURING THE HOLIDAYS

Hi everyone,

We're now deep into the holiday season, and my life is getting pretty hectic. With so much going on in these festive months, it can be really hard to try and keep up your writing whilst still having the time to enjoy whatever holiday you celebrate.

With that in mind, I put together a list of five tips for keeping up your writing productivity during the holidays!

DISCLAIMER: I am totally not a writing expert and everybody works differently, but this is just what works for me.

CHRISTMAS TBR!

Hi everyone,

I'm finally out of school for the Christmas holidays, and I'm so excited that I'm going to have time to read over the next two weeks. I feel like I haven't been able to just sit down with a book for ages!

Without further ado, here's a quick TBR with all the books I want to read over the next few weeks...

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: BOOKS TO READ BY THE FIRE (HOLIDAY/WINTER READS)

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY GINGERREADSLAINEY, AND YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP
Hi everyone!

Christmas is almost upon us, and I am practically bursting with festive spirit. Of course it's only fitting that this weeks topic for Top 5 Wednesday is my top 5 Winter/Holiday reads.

These books aren't all about Christmas, they're not even all winter-themed, but they do all have a festive vibe to me. They're also all really good, and I definitely recommend them whether you celebrate Christmas or not!

In no particular order...

OCTOBER + NOVEMBER READING WRAP-UP

Hi everyone!

It's been a busy few months, to say the least. So busy, in fact, that I've hardly had any time to read at all. It SUCKS. Since I only got the chance to read seven full books (and the last halves of two others) across both October and November I decided to just put them all in one wrap up now.

This post is a total mess, sorry! I just wanted to get everything wrapped up so I could move into December without worrying about it. Anyway, here are all the books I read over the past few months...

I WON NANOWRIMO 2015!

I did it! I got 50k! I AM A CHAMPION! *victorious dancing*

That's right, at about 5pm on Sunday 22nd November (I haven't had time to post about it until now because school sucks) I hit 50 thousand words on my current novel, meaning that I won NaNoWriMo nine days early! I am extremely excited about this, especially since it was my first time participating, so of course I had to write a post to tell you guys all about it...

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: FAVOURITE HUNGER GAMES MOMENTS

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY LAINEY, AND YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP

Hi everyone,

Its top 5 Wednesday! I haven't done one of these in a while due to NaNoWriMo taking over every aspect of my life, but this week's topic is so special that I couldn't miss out on it.

If you haven't been living under a rock for the past few months, you'll know that Mockingjay Part 2 comes out TOMORROW (in the UK, anyway). If you know anything about me, you'll know that I'm ridiculously excited/nervous to see it. To celebrate the occasion, this weeks Top 5 Wednesday topic is TOP 5 MOMENTS FROM 'THE HUNGER GAMES' SERIES.

As a huge, long-term Hunger Games fan (more on that in a post I'll have up in a couple of days) this was REALLY hard for me, but I managed to shorten my giant list of favourite moments down to just six (I couldn't get five, it was impossible). These moments have been taken from the books, but I've included movie clips just so that everybody knows what I'm talking about. Here they are...

WARNING: This post (obviously) contains spoilers for all three books in the Hunger Games series. You have been warned!

WARNING #2: I am very emotional about The Hunger Games. This passion may manifest itself during the post and make what I'm writing completely incoherent.

WARNING #3: I am a huge Peeta/Katniss shipper, and therefore a lot of these moments involve their relationship. If you really like Gale with Katniss, proceed with caution.

WRITERS WEEKENDS: NANOWRIMO WEEK 2

Hi everyone,
We're half way through NaNoWriMo, and I have to admit, I'm not anywhere near as confident as I was last week. Damn the second week slump!

WRITERS WEEKENDS: NANOWRIMO WEEK 1 UPDATE (+THE FIRST PARAGRAPH OF MY NOVEL)

Hi everyone,

You may have noticed I haven't posted in a week, and I only have one excuse for that...NANOWRIMO! (If you don't know what I'm on about, here's last weeks post)

We're a week into NaNoWriMo, and I have to say I'm doing pretty well! At the time of writing it's 10:14 pm on Saturday the 7th of November, and I currently have a grand total of 20,196 words, which is over 8 thousand more words than the goal of 11,667 words for today. Hell yeah!

WRITERS WEEKENDS: THE START OF NANOWRIMO!

Hi everyone,
It's November 1st, and you know what that means? NANOWRIMO HAS BEGUN! Today I'm just doing a super quick update about how my first day went.

In case you missed it, HERE is the post where I talked about my plans for NaNoWriMo and what I'm writing. You can also add me as a buddy on NaNoWriMo HERE.

CREATURES OF THE NIGHT BOOK TAG

Hi everyone,
Halloween is almost upon us, and after a day of pumpkin carving and watching Ellen's staff get sent to haunted houses I'm in the mood to do a Halloween-themed book tag!

I decided to do the CREATURES OF THE NIGHT BOOK TAG, which was actually created last halloween by Kat from Katytastic, but I have seen some people doing it more recently. Basically, there's just a list of paranormal creatures, and you have to pick a favourite book which features each creature.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: HALLOWEEN BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY GINGERREADSLAINEY. YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP.
Halloween is only three days away, so of course today's top 5 Wednesday topic is TOP 5 HALLOWEEN RECOMMENDATIONS!

Even though I adore Halloween, I'm actually ridiculously easily scared and I really don't read horror/creepy books very often.  Even so, I managed to put together a list of nine (yes, I know it's top 5 WEDNESDAY, but since it's a special occasion I'm letting myself off) books which I think really capture the creepy atmosphere I want at Halloween without being TOO scary...

WRITERS WEEKENDS: NANOWRIMO PLANS

There's one week until NaNoWriMo, and I've decided to take part for the FIRST TIME EVER! Woo!

For today's Writers Weekends posts I just want to quickly talk about my plans for November, what I'm going to be writing, and what I've been doing to prepare. Then I need to get back to outlining, because I am REALLY behind right now.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: AUTHORS I DISCOVERED THIS YEAR

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY GINGERREADSLAINEY, AND YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP

Hi everyone,
It's been a few weeks since I've taken part in top 5 Wednesday, but I'm back!
This week's topic is TOP 5 AUTHORS YOU DISCOVERED THIS YEAR. This doesn't necessarily mean that they published their debut novel this year, just that I read their books for the first time this year and loved them.

In no particular order, here are the best authors I discovered this year...

DEWEY'S 24 HOUR READATHON WRAP UP - OCTOBER 2015

Hi guys,

I took part in Dewey's 24 hour readathon this weekend, and I had a really great time! I managed to get quite a bit of reading done (despite sleeping for nearly 12 hours. Oops) and I'm really happy with how the readathon went.

I ended up reading for about 8 out of the 24 hours and got a total of around 590 pages, including three full books (if you count 50 pages a full book). Here's what I thought of them...

THE VOGUE BOOK TAG

Hi everyone,

I was tagged by the wonderful Victoria from The Petite Book Blogger to do the VOGUE BOOK TAG, which Victoria herself created!

This is a really fun and original TAG, and I'm super excited to be doing it today. Basically, there are eight questions relating to books based off of your hypothetical superstar life. That made no sense. Whatever, hopefully you'll get it as we go along...

DEWEY'S 24 HOUR READATHON TBR

Hi everyone,

I took part in Dewey's 24 hour readathon back in April (TBRWrap Up) and I had a really great and productive time, so I knew I wanted to take part again this time.

If you don't know, Dewey's readathon is basically just where you try and read as much as possible in 24 hours. Everybody starts at the same times, and there's a great community to help you be as productive as possible! You can find out all of the information on the website here.

The readathon starts at 1pm tomorrow for me (find out your start time HERE), and even though I do have some plans for the weekend I think I should get quite a bit of time to read. I've set myself a target of reading three (short) books during the readathon, which I think should be achievable.

Without further ado, here are the books I want to read during the 24 hours...

TRICK OR TREAT BOOK TAG

Hi everyone,

It's October, which means Halloween is almost upon us! Wooo!
If you couldn't tell from all the orange and the spiderwebs on my blog right now, I get really (really, really) into Halloween.

I'm going to be doing as many Halloween-themed posts as possible throughout the month, starting with the TRICK OR TREAT BOOK TAG. This TAG was created by Pucksandpaperbacks on youtube, and basically there's seven bookish questions related to different sweets (most of which I hadn't heard of, because I'm an ignorant British person) that you might get whilst you're trick or treating.

STACKING THE SHELVES #9

STACKING THE SHELVES IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY TYNGAS REVIEWS
Hi everyone,

It's been three weeks since I did my last stacking the shelves post, and I actually only have two books to show you. I'm doing surprisingly well at this book buying/requesting ban thing!

The two books I have are some of my most anticipated reads of the year, and I am SO excited to finally have them in my life! There are just so many super exciting books coming out this month.

All books in this haul were purchased by me.

MIA REACTS: FIRST SHADOWHUNTERS TRAILER + LADY MIDNIGHT COVER

If you didn't know this yet, I am a HUGE fan of Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter world, and I'm really excited (and apprehensive and nervous) about the upcoming TV adaptation which is set to premier in January 2016. I'm also ridiculously excited about Cassandra's BRAND NEW series set in the Shadowhunter world, the first book of which is set to be released next March.

Today has been a really exciting day for the Shadowhunters fandom; both the first full length trailer for the TV show and the cover for Lady Midnight, the first book in the Dark Artifices trilogy, were released! Needless today, I am completely freaking out right now, and I have a lot of thoughts I want to share.

Without further ado, here are my quick thoughts on the trailer and cover...

SEPTEMBER READING WRAP-UP

I'm so glad September is over. September is always the most boring and stressful month of the year for me, and there was really nothing happening aside from school. Ew.

Despite my hatred for the month of September, and my subsequent bad mood for the entire past four weeks, I managed to read seven full books and finish two others that I started in August. I've got quite a lot to talk about, so let's just get into it...

TOP 5 BANNED BOOKS

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY LAINEY, AND YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP
Happy banned books week everyone!

Well, 'happy' probably isn't the right word. Happy definitely isn't how I feel when I think about banned books...it's more like extreme frustration. I'm going to spare you the rant about why books shouldn't be banned for now (I'm going to have a full blog post/angry rant up later in the week, so watch out for that!), but it's something I'm really passionate about so I was really excited about this weeks topic.

The topic for this weeks top 5 Wednesday is TOP 5 BANNED BOOKS YOU'VE READ, but I've read lot more than five banned books so I'm just going to pick my favorites to talk about today. I found almost of my information for this post HERE, and I really recommend you check it out to find out more about what banned books week is and which books have been challenged.

Without further ado, here are five frequently banned/challenged books I love, and why you should read them no matter what anybody else says...

GOODREADS TOP 100 YA BOOKS INSPIRED TBR

Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks ago, goodreads released their list of the top 100 YA books, and I thought it would be fun to go through this list and see how many I've read.

It turns out I've read 33 of the books (including 7 of the top 10) and pretty much all of my favorite's are there, but as somebody who really loves YA I felt like I should have read more. I've picked 10 books from the list that I haven't read yet but really (really, really, really, really) want to. I'm hoping to get to them in the next few months, so I should probably get started soon...

READATHON TBRS: #RYBSAT ROUND 6 & #SLAYTHATSERIES

Hi everyone,

I love taking part in readathons, and there are a couple taking part in the next week that I'm going to be participating in.

The first is #RYBSAT round 6, which is taking place between September 22nd (tomorrow!) and September 29th and was created by BooKs101. The idea is to pick a spot on your bookshelf as many books as you can from then on...but I didn't explain that very well so you should probably just watch the announcement video.

Then I'm going to participate in the #slaythatseries readathon, hosted by ReadLikeWildfire and sarawithoutanH. It's running between the 27 of September of 4th of October and overlaps with RYBSAT, so my plan is to take part in all of RYBSAT and then join in with the last 6 days of this readathon when it's finished. The point of the #slaythatseries readathon is to finish as many series as possible, and you can find all the information in the announcement video.

Without further ado, here are the books I want to read for both the readathons...

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: BOOKS ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY IS A WEEKLY MEME CREATED BY GINGERREADS LAINEY. YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE GOODREADS GROUP.
Hi everyone,

It's top 5 Wednesday again! I feel like I say that every other day; time is just going way too fast right now.
Anyway, this weeks topic is TOP 5 BOOKS INVOLVING MENTAL HEALTH/ILLNESS.

This isn't actually a topic I have a lot of experience reading about (despite the recent increase in books dealing with issues surrounding mental health), but I did manage to find five books that I really enjoyed and I think portray mental illness in a sensitive, realistic and interesting way. Obviously, I highly recommend you pick these books up if you haven't already!

PS: this weeks list IS in order, from my least favourite to my favourite.

MIA REACTS: ALLEGIANT TEASER TRAILER

Hi guys,

I was supposed to have my review of The sky is everywhere up tonight, but then the teaser trailer for Allegiant came out whilst I was completely unprepared (seriously, how did I not know about this?) and I knew I had to talk about that instead.

In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the teaser I'm talking about:

UPDATES + CURRENTLY READING

UPDATES:
So, I haven't posted anything for a week. Oops. I really have no excuse for this other than the fact that I started school last week.

Honestly, I was just feeling really unenthusiastic about my blog. I can't explain why, but for the last few weeks I had to force myself to write posts and I wasn't happy with the content I was putting online. I decided it would be a good idea to take a few days off to try and recover my blogging mojo (if I had any blogging mojo to start with, that is.)

Half way through the week, I randomly decided I wanted to redesign my blog. I don't now where that came from, or why I though completely changing everything at 2am was a good idea. Despite my better judgement, I went through with it. You can see the results for yourself.
I went with a simpler look this time, and I'm pretty happy with how things turned out. I'll probably keep changing things over the next few days/weeks...I just can't stop myself.

CURRENTLY READING
I haven't been reading much recently (reading slumps SUCK), but I am in the middle of a few books. I'm really enjoying everything I'm reading at the moment, despite not having much time to get to them, so I thought I'd just show you what they are...
ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL - JESSE ANDREWS
I only started this an hour ago, but I think it might have killed my reading slump already. The 80 pages I've read have been hilarious and I'm really enjoying it so far.
VENGEANCE ROAD - ERIN BOWMAN
I'm really enjoying this one too, the only problem is that I'm reading it on my phone and my phone won't work properly. Sigh.
QUEEN OF SHADOWS - SARAH J. MAAS
I love the throne of glass series, but I honestly can't get into the fourth book at the minute. I think I'm just not in the mood to read fantasy, which is why I'm taking a break to read Me & Earl & the Dying Girl. Let's hope I can read it soon!

Thanks so much for reading!

Hi everyone,

The first week of September may be over, but that doesn't mean it's too late to make a TBR!

AUGUST READING WRAP UP

Hi everyone,

August is (unfortunately) over, which means it's time to talk about all the books I read in the month! I was off school all month which meant I had a lot more time than normal to read, and I ended up getting through a total of thirteen books this month and started 2 more. Half of the books I read were the Harry Potter series, so I think it's fair to say that I had a really brilliant reading month...

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS BOOK TAG

Hi guys,

I wasn't sure what post to do today so I decided to go on youtube and see what tags are popular at the minute, and it seems like the tag everyone is doing is the UNPOPULAR OPINIONS BOOK TAG.

This tag was created by the book archer, and I'm basically just going to be sharing some controversial opinions about books.

I don't think I have any REALLY controversial opinions and I'm going to try my best not to offend anyone. Even so, if you're a really sensitive fan of the uglies series, Gale Hawthorne, Maria V Snyder or love triangles you might not want to read this. You have been warned.

JULY READING WRAP UP

Hi everyone!

July is over, and it felt like the shortest month in the history of months. Seriously, what happened?
I had a really hectic and exciting month, but unfortunately I didn't get much time to read. It didn't help that I was in a massive reading slump for the first half of the month either. Even so, I managed to read a total of seven books in July. Here's what I thought about them...

BOOKTUBEATHON 2015 TBR

Hi everyone,

The BookTubeAThon is taking place between the 3rd and 9th of August, and I'm taking part!
If you don't know, the BookTubeAThon is a big readathon hosted by Ariel Bissett. You can find out all the information on the official youtube channel

There are seven challenges for the readathon, and I'm going to try and complete at least six of them. I doubt I'm going to manage to read seven books (seriously. That's crazy), but I really do want to get as much reading done as possible.

YALC RECAP/EXPERIENCE

Hi everyone!

YALC took place last weekend at London Film and Comic Con, and I (along with my Mum and sister, who don't even read) had the pleasure of attending. In case you don't know, YALC is a Young Adult Literature convention here in the UK, kind of like a much smaller BEA. You can find out more information on the website here!

I was only able to attend one day of the convention (Saturday the 18th of July), and although I would have loved to be there for all three days I still had a really amazing experience. I got to meet multiple brilliant authors (including my favorite author! Ahh!) and listen to some really interesting panels, as well as picking up some really exciting books and free swag. I also saw Hayley Atwell's hair.

I posted my YALC haul (and swag giveaway!) a few days ago, and today I wanted to tell you about my experience at the event and what happened during the day. This is going to be long. You've been warned.

PS: please ignore my face in all these photos. It was a really long day and I was a sweaty mess. Also ignore my awful photography.

Hi everyone,

I was totally supposed to have my YALC recap up today, but the Mockingjay part 2 trailer came out before I could finish writing it and now I'm too emotional to do anything. Instead, I've decided to share my new BLOG SCHEDULE.

SBPT #3: EMILY READS EVERYTHING'S FAVORITE AUTHORS!

THE SUMMER BLOGGER PROMO TOUR IS HOSTED BY THE BOOK BRATZ.
TODAY I'M DELIGHTED TO WELCOME EMILY FROM EMILY READS EVERYTHING, WHO WILL BE TALKING ABOUT HER TOP 10 FAVORITE AUTHORS!

Hi everyone! I’m Emily from Emily Reads Everything (www.emilyreadseverything.com) and I’m so excited to be here today.

This post was so hard for me to write. I had an incredibly difficult time choosing only 10 favorite authors. There are so many wonderful books and authors out there that it’s so tough to narrow it down. I thought about doing a true top ten list that goes from 10 to my number 1 favorite but that was way too daunting. So these are my top 10 favorites but in no particular order.
